Service Description
Support your students as they develop the habits of curious learners through a multi-week nature journaling experience. This progressive series gives students the time to build confidence, strengthen observation skills, and develop meaningful connections with the natural world while making rich connections across the Ontario Curriculum. Using the Nature Journaling scaffold I Notice, I Wonder, It Reminds Me Of, students use words, pictures, and numbers to observe closely, ask thoughtful questions, and reflect on their learning. Each session builds on the last, allowing students to deepen their skills through curiosity, inquiry, and exploration. What to Expect Four to eight curriculum-connected workshops for Grades 4–8. Progressive learning where each session builds on previous learning. Guided instruction using the I Notice, I Wonder, It Reminds Me Of Nature Journaling framework. A personal nature journal for every student. All teaching materials and supplies. Mileage included within 50 km of Orangeville. Workshop Overview Students have the opportunity to grow as observers, thinkers, and nature journalers through repeated outdoor learning experiences. Throughout the series, students will: Develop observation and inquiry skills. Build confidence using words, pictures, and numbers to communicate their thinking. Make meaningful connections across Science, Language, Mathematics, Geography, Environmental Education, Social Studies, and the Arts. Explore seasonal changes, local ecosystems, and environmental relationships. Strengthen critical thinking, creativity, and reflection. Build a nature journaling practice they can continue beyond the program. Workshops are delivered outdoors whenever possible. If weather requires an indoor session, activities are thoughtfully adapted using natural materials, visual prompts, and structured journaling experiences. By the end of the series, students will have a collection of journal entries that showcase their growth while developing the confidence and skills to continue exploring and learning through nature journaling.
