Gr. 1 - 4 Micro-Habitat Explorers
Service Description
At Pine & Ponder Outdoors, we believe even the smallest spaces hold big discoveries. Micro-Habitat Explorers invites Grade 1 - 4 students to become young scientists as they investigate a tiny section of their schoolyard to uncover the living and non-living elements within it. This program is especially recommended for students who have already been introduced to Nature Journaling, as it deepens their observation and recording skills. However, it can also be thoughtfully adapted for first-time journalers with additional modelling and scaffolding. Through guided Nature Journaling, counting, sketching, and discussion, students explore how habitats provide food, water, shelter, air, and space for living things. This engaging, curriculum-aligned experience integrates Science, Math, and Language in an authentic outdoor setting. Recommended as a 90-minute immersive experience, this program allows students time to observe, journal, collect simple data, and participate in meaningful consolidation but it can also be adapted into a focused 60-minute session to suit your school’s schedule. Students leave understanding that even the smallest patch of soil is a thriving habitat and that everything in nature is connected. Programs starting at $250 + tax/class (up to 30 students). NOTE: STARTING PRICES WILL INCREASE FOR FALL 2026: Starting at $275 + tax/class (up to 30 students) Mileage fees apply beyond 50 km. Discounts available for multiple class bookings.
