Gr. 1 + Mapping & Sensory
Service Description
What if students could strengthen their writing, scientific thinking, and focus simply by listening? Mapping and Sensory Nature Journaling is a hands on, curriculum aligned outdoor learning experience designed specifically for Grade 1 students, with the flexibility to be adapted for other grades. This program is especially beneficial for students who have previously been introduced to Nature Journaling, as it builds on foundational observation skills. However, it can also be thoughtfully scaffolded to support students who are new to journaling. Through guided listening, sound mapping, reflection, and creative expression, students learn to observe beyond sight and deepen their connection to the natural world. Students begin by sitting quietly outdoors, identifying and mapping the sounds around them. They then use structured Nature Journaling prompts to reflect on what they heard, how it made them feel, and what it reminded them of. This 60-90 minute experience blends Science, Language, and The Arts into one meaningful outdoor lesson that supports academic growth while promoting mindfulness and well being. Students leave with stronger listening skills, growing confidence in journaling, and a greater appreciation for the world just beyond their classroom door. Programs starting at $250 + tax/class (up to 30 students). NOTE: STARTING PRICES WILL INCREASE FOR FALL 2026: Starting at $275 + tax/class (up to 30 students) Mileage fees apply beyond 50 km. Discounts available for multiple class bookings.
