Service Description

Each Pine & Ponder Outdoors workshop is thoughtfully tailored to the developmental level and curriculum expectations of each specific grade. Using the framework "I Notice, I Wonder, It Reminds Me Of" students are guided through nature journaling in a way that is engaging, age-appropriate, and deeply meaningful. Every session is intentionally designed around the Ontario Curriculum, ensuring strong connections to key concepts in Science, Language, Geography, Environmental Education, and cross-curricular inquiry, depending on the grade level. Through hands-on exploration, students learn to notice fine details in their environment, wonder about patterns and processes, and reflect by connecting their observations to personal experiences and broader ideas. These structured yet creative experiences build curiosity, critical thinking, and confidence in observation and communication. Each program is designed primarily for outdoor learning; however, in the case of inclement weather, sessions are thoughtfully adapted for indoor delivery using natural materials, visual prompts, and structured journaling activities to ensure learning goals are fully met. By the end of each workshop, every learner leaves with a personal journal filled with rich observations, thoughtful questions, and a deeper connection to the outdoors.
