Surviving in Nature Gr. 2

Service Description

Animal Adaptations is an engaging outdoor learning program designed specifically for Grade 2 students. Rooted in the Ontario Curriculum and grounded in hands on exploration, this 60 -90 minute workshop invites students to investigate how animals survive in their environments through physical and behavioural adaptations. This program is especially well suited for students who have already had experience with Nature Journaling, as it builds on foundational observation, sketching, and reflective thinking skills. Students deepen their ability to record detailed observations using the I Notice, I Wonder, It Reminds Me Of framework while strengthening scientific vocabulary and explanation skills. However, the session can also be thoughtfully adapted for students who are new to journaling, with additional modelling and structured support to ensure every learner feels confident and successful. Through outdoor observation, guided discussion, and labelled scientific drawings, students explore concepts such as camouflage, body coverings, migration, and hibernation. By the end of the workshop, students understand how adaptations support survival and begin to see the natural world as a place of inquiry, connection, and discovery. Programs starting at $250 + tax/class (up to 30 students). NOTE: STARTING PRICES WILL INCREASE FOR FALL 2026: Starting at $275 + tax/class (up to 30 students) Mileage fees apply beyond 50 km. Discounts available for multiple class bookings.
